Caring for Your Equipment
Many of us own various pieces of stargazing equipment; what we all find eventually is that when we put it into use, it doesn’t stay looking “showroom new” for long. How does one safely and effectively go about keeping it clean, and otherwise in good condition? How important is cleanliness and care?
The optics in our equipment certainly seem different than other things we work with on a day-to-day basis; perhaps more delicate, probably more expensive. For our May 19th Astronomy Fundamentals program, long-time observer Drew Carhart will lead us through the practical theory and practice of cleaning and otherwise caring for optics, and share some thoughts (and answer questions) about general equipment care. He will actually demonstrate some cleaning techniques, and there might be time to visit a few items that attendees bring in, too!
This event is free and open to the public.
