NAA's newest observatory and what it can do
Presenter: Drew Carhart
When NAA members built the original Glen D. Riley Observatory in 1973, our club joined a small group of elite US astronomical societies that operate their own brick-and-mortar observatories. In the decades since then, we’ve continually worked at improving our facilities. Our latest accomplishment is the refitting of the DuPage Valley Observatory, where we have been displaying live images of celestial objects on a large wall monitor at public and private events for almost 15 years, replacing our once cutting-edge analog system with a new digital imaging setup.
For the August 16th Astronomy Fundamentals program, Drew Carhart, who was deeply involved in both the original DVO video setup and its new digital replacement, will share some insights into the new systems. Come and learn about the extraordinary live imaging capabilities our club now has with this new system, how it was designed, and the expanding range of amazing celestial objects that we can display through it.
The public is welcome to attend, free of charge.
