How Far the Stars?
Presenter: Larry Jahn
Location: Streamed online.
How do we know far it is to the planets? The Stars? The Galaxies? Why is it said that looking out to cosmic distances is like looking back in time? Where do humans stand in the scale of things, from biggest to smallest?
In this April 19 Astronomy Fundamentals program, NAA member Larry Jahn will show us the distance scales of the universe and how they were determined. Utilizing very little–and only very simple–math, Larry will guide us through measuring methods and “celestial yardsticks”, their history and recent refinements via Hubble Space Telescope.
This event is open to the public and free of charge.
