How the Sun Got Here

Presenter: Roger Kolman, AAVSO, NAA

Our Sun is one of billions of stars in our galaxy. Presently, it is “off by itself”; the next nearest stars are light-years away. But we know that it couldn’t have formed entirely on its own; elements within our solar system originated in earlier stars. And we see that stars often seem to form in groups.
What is the early history of our star? Did it have “siblings”, that it has drifted away from? Dr. Kolman will explore these fascinating questions, which astronomers and planetary scientists are actively researching.
The public is welcome to attend, free of charge.
