Mercury Transit

Moments before dawn on Monday, November 11, the planet Mercury will come directly between the Sun and the Earth, allowing us to follow its silhouette as it marches slowly across the solar disk and moves off the other side a few minutes past noon.
This is called a Transit of Mercury, and there won’t be another one visible from the Chicago area until 2049. You can’t see it without a properly-filtered telescope, so join us on the hill at Greene Valley Forest Preserve to watch the solar system in motion.

This event is open to the public and free of charge.
