Solving Big Problems with Tiny Experiments-Quantum Sensors for Astrophysics Applications

Presenter: Daniel Baxter

Dan obtained his PhD at Northwestern University and has worked in the field of dark matter for almost 15 years. He will give a brief introduction to the concept of dark matter, how we go about trying to detect it, and why. From there he will talk about how we are trying to leverage national investment into quantum computing to tackle fundamental science questions, like the mystery of dark matter. Even in a tiny quantum chip, it might be possible to search for new classes of dark matter particles that are a million times smaller than a proton.

The public is welcome to attend, free of charge.
