Upgrades to the 4m Blanco and Mayall telescopes for DES and DESI
Presenter: Gaston Gutierrez Ph.D.
Dr. Gutierrez has been a high energy physicist and cosmologist at Fermilab since 1983. In this month’s presentation, he will describe the upgrades made to the 4-meter Blanco telescope at La Serena, Chile, for the Dark Energy Survey experiment (DES), as well as the upgrades made to the 4-meter Mayall telescope at Kitt Peak, Arizona, for the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument collaboration (DESI). Dr. Gutierrez participated in the upgrades to both instruments. He will also discuss the scientific goals of both the DES and the DESI collaborations.
The public is welcome to attend, free of charge.
