What Did DART Do? NASA's Asteroid-Smasher and Its Paparazzo Companion
Long-time NAA member and NASA Solar System Ambassador Bill Higgins will tell us how the Double Asteroid Redirection Test spacecraft deliberately crashed into a small asteroid last September as a possible technique for “planetary defense” if a threatening object is ever discovered. An Italian spacecraft accompanied DART, snapping pictures of its final moments and the messy plume of its aftermath.
The public is welcome to attend, free of charge.
