Challenging. Complicated. Confusing. These 3 C’s are often attributed to Celestial Navigation. Modern celestial navigation that is, because this form of “finding one’s way” has been around since the beginning of recorded history, if not before. The art and science of using observations of the Sun, Moon, certain planets, and the brighter stars for navigational purposes has been, and continues to be, a very accurate way of navigating the high seas.
Club member, Vince Tiseo will share his experiences and understanding of this somewhat lost nautical discipline, given the rise of GPS and other technological advances. He will explain why this form of navigation continues to be applicable to all who travel the world’s oceans, whether you are a merchant mariner, US Navy captain, or a recreational sailing enthusiast.
